Kidepo National Park

This has the most stunning scenery of any protected area in Uganda. Kidepo is most notable for harboring a number of animals found no else where else in Uganda, including cheetahs, but-eared foxes, caracal etc. There is also concentration of elephants. Zebras, bushbuck, buffaloes, jackals, leopards, hyenas and crocodiles. Amazingly, most of these animals including even the occasional lions, are content to graze and to lounge near the park accommodation, so you can see the whole lot without even going very far
The bird check list is fast approaching 500 species and there are many kidepo specials such as ostrich, pygmy falcon, secretary bird, karamoja apalis and Abyssinian ground hornbill that are found in no other Uganda national park.
Wildlife viewing
Kidepo is the only park in Uganda where UWA has a vehicle for wild life viewing but it’s not always available. When it is , a top target in the narus valley , where lions began climbing trees around 2005. Also popular are the barassus palm forest and kanangorok hot spring by the usually dry kidepo river. If you want to see oastritch you have to head to the northern sector of the park.
Cultural visits
UWA can arrange visits to karamajong and IK villages, both memorable experiences that allows you to interact with these north east tribal groups

Apoka Safari Lodge
Despite its remote location, Apoka Lodge is built for comfort. Spacious, private cottages cluster around a rocky kopje overlooking the Narus River, each with a screened balcony, outdoor stone tub (perfect for a starlit soak) and furnishings exquisitely handmade by local craftsmen.

The wildlife is abundant – lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and zebra to name a few – and can often be viewed from the comfort and privacy of your suite, or the cool waters of the natural rock pool.
Of course, you’ll also want to get out into the park itself, exploring by foot or by game vehicle in the care of experienced guides, enjoying sundowner cocktails in the shade of a giant fig tree, or simply drinking in the sweeping 360 degree views of land and wildlife from specially constructed tower.
